About Us
The Nimag group of
companies can trace its origins back to 1962 and has
produced various metal related products since commencing
business and has been ISO 9001 compliant since 2000. Nimag
(Proprietary) Limited has two divisions, namely Nimag and
Magberg Manufacturing and is the holding company of Metalloy
Fibres (Proprietary) Limited. The Group is focused on the
production of nickel magnesium, ferro-nickel magnesium,
ferro-silicon, other master alloys and related products. The
Group operates from a production facility near Magaliesburg,
approximately 50 kilometres North West of Johannesburg.
The Group is a globally significant producer of specialised
nickel magnesium alloys (“NiMag”), ferro-nickel magnesium
alloys (“FeNiMag”), ferro-silicon magnesium alloys (“Fesimag”)
and other Master alloys. The products are used in a wide
variety of applications in the foundry, aeronautical,
aerospace and motor industries.
The alloys are batch
produced in South Africa at the Magaliesburg foundry using
induction furnaces in a hot melt process.
Nimag has an extensive network of distributors which it uses
to market its products internationally. The distributors
generally have an exclusive market supply in their
respective regions and have a close relationship with
foundries, often supplying supporting metallurgical
expertise to the operations as well as a suite of related
products to their clients. The distributors buy directly
from Nimag and sell the products on to their respective
clients. Currently the distribution network is diversified
and spans the globe.
Magberg Manufacturing is a specialised producer of Ferro
Silicon Magnesium (Fesimag) alloys used to manufacture
Ductile Iron. Magberg Manufacturing is a relatively small
but highly specialised producer of Fesimag, producing eight
standard products and over thirty specialised grades used in
the automotive industry.
